Queen Cleopatra
Queen Cleopatra was the last pharaoh of Egypt and the lover of the strongest men in her time Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony. She was about 17 years old when her father died, leaving Egypt threatened by the Romans. According to Egyptian law, Cleopatra was forced to get married to her younger brother, who was 12 years old; however she soon ignored him and dropped his name from any official documents. When Julius Caesar had entered Alexandria he fell in love with Cleopatra. After Cleopatra’s brother was killed, Caesar proclaimed Cleopatra queen of Egypt around 51 BC. With the death of Caesar a great love story began between her and Mark Anthony that ended when she committed suicide. Here in the picture she is shown wearing the vulture crown, symbol of Upper Egypt and her earrings are cobras, symbol of Lower Egypt.
